Sahibganj: Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Malda Division continues to play a pivotal role in safeguarding vulnerable children at railway premises through its ongoing initiative, “Operation Nanhey Faristey”, under the able guidance of Shri Manish Kumar Gupta, Divisional Railway Manager, Malda. The operation reflects RPF’s unwavering commitment to the protection and rehabilitation of minors who are found in distress across railway stations. During the financial year 2023-24, Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Malda Division rescued a total of 165 children comprising 111 boys and 54 girls with 2 traffickers arrested. Building on this performance, During the financial year 2024-25, the Division has rescued 247 children including 163 boys and 84 girls and 14 traffickers have been apprehended so far from various railway stations falling under the jurisdiction of Malda Division. These minors were found either separated from their families, lost, abandoned, or in situations that posed a risk to their safety and well-being. Upon rescue, all children were promptly handed over to Child Welfare Committees (CWC), and other child welfare NGOs in coordination with Government authorities, ensuring their safe custody and necessary rehabilitation measures. “Operation Nanhey Faristey” is not just a campaign; it is a life-saving mission that continues to reunite children with their families and restore their right to a safe and secure childhood. Additionally, the Division has been conducting regular awareness campaigns at major stations and onboard trains to sensitise passengers, railway staff, and local communities regarding human trafficking and child safety. These sustained efforts are contributing towards creating a more vigilant, responsive, and child-friendly environment across the railway network. This rescue operation not only highlights the alertness and humanitarian approach of Malda Division’s RPF personnel but also showcases its dedication to social responsibility and child welfare.
